Cupid and Psyche
Ceramics Exhibition by Emilia Emileva
The exhibition is a personal interpretation of the ancient myth about Cupid and Psyche. Formally following the structure and poetics of the mythological narrative, I interpret the symbolic-allegorical scenes through images on ceramic tiles. By means of laconic language, I try to give material form to moral-philosophical categories that have remained universal since the beginning of human civilisation. The eternal themes of love and suffering, of trust and hope, of despair and forgiveness are at the heart of the ceramic cycle I present. Whether these works are emotional experiences or abstract reflections on the mythological narrative is not particularly important. Of significance is that their emotional-meaning code is a deeply personal discourse on the ancient myth about the trials of love and the power of the human soul.
